Cremone Bolts for Doors and Windows

A cremone bolt is a fastening device used on double doors and casement windows that has vertical rods moved up and down so that the ends of the bolts engage the top and bottom of the frame.
The entomology is French crémone, which likely was derived from Crémone (Cremona), a city in northern Italy.
Operable cremones are typically used in lieu of two surface bolts and will simultaneously retract the upper and lower rod. Cremones can be specified for operating mortise locks/MP locks/tubular latches (requires FIXED rods) on ACTIVE doors.
Classic Brass offers ACTIVE rods that operate with a cremone cassette (Pass, Priv, Aux D/B and Entrance function available). In addition, Cremones can be specified as HD or FD, with FIXED rods.
Cremone bolt lengths of upper and lower rods typically are measured from the LEVER (Knob) height off the finished floor surface (OFF). Upper rod lengths are typically limited to 72” in length. Please contact Mar Vista Hardware sales for any custom length for upper cremone rod beyond 72”.
Standard strikes are universal and mortise (both included with set). If angle strikes are required, please SUB on your order.
Classic Brass provides a worksheet (Form No. 503) which MUST be supplied to identify the unique nature of the cremone bolt being ordered.
